The DBX VE is an electric version of the nitro powered DBX. 60% of the parts are interchangeable with each other. It is a 1/10th scale buggy. The actual size of the car is much closer to a 1/8th scale buggy or a 1/10th scale truggy. This off-road r/c car is 4 wheel drive which is a nice feature for a racer. It also features a powerful 2800kv brushless motor and electronic speed control made by Team Orion.
Since this is my first r/c car, there are some problems with it that may be normal. The one problem I have is the reverse does not always respond to the transmitter. I have read on the web that the radio system is not a good choice to use with a brushless system. The radio is a AM unit and apparently you should use a digital 2.4Ghz radio system with the brushless motor setup. I have not had a chance to get to the forums yet to ask questions about this particular problem, but when I find out, I will post the solution.
Another minor problem I had was with the steering servo trim. I could not center the wheels. The solution: I ended up toeing out the one wheel in the direction I needed to go to get the wheels straight and toed in the other. It is now straight and seems to work fine.
People were complaining about frying the electronic speed controller. It only happened when the consumer used a 3S lipo battery. Kyosho has lately posted on their website not to use 3S lipo batteries due to electric speed controller failure. If you are determined to use 3S lipos, I suggest buying a different ESC that can handle it. In all posts about frying the ESC, there was no damage to the motor.
Kyosho DBX VE Technical Specifications
**Note: Some of the reviews maybe of the Nitro version Kyosho DBX converted over to electric. The 2 r/c cars are identical except for improved steering in the DBX VE. The chassis are a little different in means of screw holes and openings but do not change performance characteristics.**
